Way Cool Back to School Program
Women of Worth Collects Backpacks and School Supplies for Students in Need
Need is Expected to Rise with More Families in Crisis Due to Current Economy
For many students, this school year will find them without the necessary school supplies or clothing needed to become productive students. Having the essential school supplies and something new to wear during the peer pressure-filled years of school can greatly improve a young person’s self-esteem. Due to the current economic downtown, Women of Worth expects a greater need than ever.
Women of Worth holds their annual “Way Cool Back to School” backpack and school supply drive, from July through September for schools and students from pre-school to college age that have the need. Women of Worth collects & distributes new backpacks, school supplies, and clothing to children in need within Nevada County and North Placer counties.
Donations of sturdy new backpacks, printer paper, school supplies, lunch packs/bags classroom supplies, and playground items. Monetary contributions and gift certificates to local stores are also needed to purchase shoes, clothing, PE, and sports uniforms.
Teachers, counselors and others who know of a student in need are encouraged to contact Women of Worth with their referrals. All referrals are screened, and confidentiality will be maintained on all referrals.
Women of Worth assists families in crisis and domestic violence victims to increase self-reliance and improve quality of life by helping them rebuild their lives with dignity, hope and safety. Women of Worth provides short-term assistance for families in crisis, and long-term transitional programs to enable women to safely escape domestic violence. Women of Worth is supported almost entirely by the generosity of our great community.
