HO HO HO Program
Women of Worth Spreads Cheer to Families at Christmas
Women of Worth’s HO HO HO (Helping Out Helping Others Holiday Outreach) has been spreading Christmas cheer to families since 2002. Through HO HO HO, Women of Worth offers “Secret Angels,” or volunteers in the community, the opportunity to “adopt” families in crisis, and provide at least two Christmas gifts for each family member. Some of the families are Women of Worth clients, and some are families referred by local agencies.
Women of Worth established the HO HO HO program after seeing that the families they assisted were making progress, but still didn’t have money for Christmas presents for their children. Due to the current economic conditions, Women of Worth saw an increase in crisis calls in 2010, and expects an even greater need for services in 2011. Many families are struggling to keep their housing, and in the winter, propane and other utility bills skyrocket when temperatures plunge, just as the holiday season begins. Financial stress intensifies relational problems, and all of these factors can push families to the breaking point without the extra support that Women of Worth provides.
If you are interested in helping one of these families this coming Christmas season, here are a few ways you can get involved:
- Adopt a Family: Christmas Secret Angels are matched with a family in need and provide two new gifts for each family member.
- The Giving Tree: Select a child’s name from The Union’s “Giving Tree” located in The Union Newspaper lobby. Purchase and wrap a gift, then place it back under the Giving Tree.
- Gift Certificates: Donate gift certificates for groceries, gas and department stores.
- Monetary Donations: Your tax-deductible donation to Women of Worth will provide for additional unmet needs.

The Women of Worth 9th annual Ho Ho Ho Christmas program assisted over 700 individuals, as over 100 “secret angels” provided gifts for young and old together with volunteers providing countless hours of support. Thank you to everyone who gave of their time, services, transportation, love and good cheer making Ho Ho Ho so joyful and memorable. We could not have done it without you:
