Substance Abuse Prevention
Nevada County’s civil grand jury is the only one in the nation that has highlighted a methamphetamine problem in its community. The grand jury found methamphetamine is costing Nevada County millions in tax dollars, and is the cause of many child-abuse and domestic-violence cases. In addition, the Jury concluded that education and community involvement are the only ways to combat this problem.
Women of Worth helps at-risk women in many ways, including substance abuse prevention. Below are just a few ways that we help prevent substance abuse.
- Women: Women of Worth gives the facts about substance abuse; and teaches the warning signs and times.
- Parents: Women of Worth teaches mothers how to detect and help prevent substance abuse among their children.
- Treatment providers: Women of Worth helps to find treatment qualified treatment providers for women that need professional help and relief.
- Federal and state governments: Along with connecting women with treatment providers, Women of Worth also helps to find financial assistance for women if needed.
