Dear Friends of Women of Worth,

Despite the economy, your faith and generous support enabled Hetty’s Haven to open last summer, now the only transitional safe haven in Nevada County! This was a dream-in-the-making for more than five years…and has already offered safety and hope to numerous women in need of love, support and a place to heal during the few months it has been open. Thank you for making that happen!

While we celebrate the opening of Hetty’s Haven, we must not forget that violence against women and children continues to proliferate.  As the economy here is slow to recover, unemployment, poverty and substance abuse – all key contributors to domestic violence – continues at alarming levels.

With this in mind, Women of Worth continues to provide the victims of violence and sexual assault a healthy, safe place to begin their restoration.  To provide these families with the highest possible standard of care, we must employ experts who not only understand the severity of the damage they have suffered, but also possess the education and experience necessary to assist them in becoming whole again.

The women and children who have sought refuge with Women of Worth, including those now at our Hetty’s Haven location, are deeply appreciative of your faithfulness and generosity.  Without your support, many of these women would have continued to experience dangerous rage and violence from the very people who were supposed to protect them.

This past year has been challenging, fulfilling (and sometimes a little scary) for Women of Worth.  As we near the close of this eventful year, I want to thank you for your support, and I’m asking you to continue your faith and generosity.  I realize that none of us have been unaffected by the economic meltdown, but the women and families we are serving often have nothing but the clothes on their backs.  Women of Worth is supported entirely by the generosity of our great community… by you.
