Teddy Bear Hugs Outreach
Sponsored by: Women Of Worth (WOW)
Most of us take for granted that our child can give us a hug whenever they want. However, for an incarcerated parent, that isn't always possible.

It is sometimes overwhelming for a young child visiting a incarcerated parent when they can only look at them through a window and must use a telephone to talk with them. Normally, there is no touching nor precious hugs.
In order to help in a small way, W.O.W is collecting NEW stuffed animals to donate to our local law enforcement & child protection agencies. These will be given to children as needed. It won't be quite the same as receiving a hug from a parent, but we hope these soft critters will somehow make the "prison walls" seem less frightening to a child.
In addition, we have recently expanded this outreach project to include placing new stuffed animals with the Nevada County Sheriff's Department, the Nevada City Police Department, Grass Valley Fire Department, Nevada City Fire Department and the Chicago Park/Peardale Pines Fire Department. The Deputies, Police Officers and Firemen of these organizations will now have immediate access to a soft cuddle animal to give to a child in a crisis situation.
