Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition (DVSAC)
How DVSAC helps:
• Local 24-HR Crisis Line 530-272-3467 •
Trained peer counselors available 24hrs a day to offer support, crisis intervention and referral for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their families.
• Emergency Crisis Intervention •
Trained counselors meet victims in the DVSAC office, or at the hospital, treatment facilities, schools or law enforcement locations.
• Shelter Services •
DVSAC's shelter provides safe and confidential accommodations to domestic violence victims and their children for up to 60 days. During that time, counseling, legal, lifeskills training, and other services and referrals are offered to help families move forward to safe and productive lives.
• Individual and Group Counseling •
Weekly support groups facilitated by trained counselors and/or therapists are offered for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, as well as adults molested as children. DVSAC also offers weekly groups for children affected by domestic violence. Individual counseling by peer counselors is also available during office hours.
• Legal Assistance •
DVSAC helps victims with the preparation of temporary restraining orders, and provides the information about and accompaniment to mediation sessions, child custody and other family court hearings.
• Accompaniment & Advocacy •
Counselors accompany clients, when requested, to court, medical appointments, law enforcement, interviews, and social services.
• Information & Referrals are made to other local organizations, county agencies, and individuals who provide services and resources to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. These include Victim Witness, Social Services and Housing Department, CPS, KARE Crisis Nursery, local therapists, Family Law Facilitators and Women of Worth.
