    What we do…

Women of Worth assists families in crisis and domestic violence victims to increase self-reliance and improve quality of life by helping them rebuild their lives with dignity, hope and safety.

Why we do what we do…

"I was terrified to go to court and face my abusive husband. Sandy came with me and literally held my hand the entire time." - Beth

Why we need to do what we do…

Danger of Deadly Force • 75% of all homicides related to domestic violence occur after the victim leaves the relationship. • 50% of all women murdered in the United States are killed by a spouse or an acquaintance.

Why we need to do what we do…

Prevalence • Every 9 seconds, a woman is battered in the United States. • 25% of women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. • 25-30% of adolescent relationships are abusive.

Why we need to do what we do…

Impact • 30% of physical disabilities in women are the result of domestic violence. • Domestic violence is the single major cause of injury to women, more than muggings and car accidents combined.

Why we need to do what we do…

Sadly… • Domestic violence occurs in 60% of marriages and is the most under reported crime. • Most battered women never contact non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help.

Why we need to do what we do…

Even more sadly… • There are more shelters for animals in the United States, than shelters for women and children escaping domestic violence and human trafficking… Where can she go to be safe…?

Why we do what we do…

"The past few years have had many challenges and struggles, but the kindness your organization shared with my family erased some of the hurtful memories." - Susan

Why we do what we do…

"My husband was a master manipulator. Every time I would tell him I was leaving him because of his abuse of the kids and me, he would overdose on his medication… I had had enough. I called Women of Worth, and they moved the kids and me far away from this very sick man. I was loved and encouraged the whole way…and now my kids and I are safe." - Melanie

I was in a real mess. My boyfriend vandalized my car because I told him I was going to leave him if he didn’t stop beating me. [I was referred to Women of Worth] and in a matter of a couple of days, my car was repaired at no cost to me, and I was on my way out of town to be with family that would shelter me while I got back on my feet.
